Philosophy ~ To enjoy the fundamentals of music through practice and theory, as well as develop an appreciation for many musical styles. In addition, to provide students with important musical experiences that can help them develop fine motor skills, physical coordination, timing, memory, visual, aural and language skills. |

Goals ~ To accomplish the completion of several method and standard piano literature pieces throughout the school year. Preparations for any performances (festivals and recitals) are in the spirit of setting goals and meeting deadlines. Students will also develop the skills to become comfortable to fluent music readers. |

Research ~ Studies show that piano lessons can improve reasoning skills, invaluable for math and science. The geography of the piano keyboard and the sound of the different keys as they are played give children a link between spatial relationships (known as “spatial-temporal” skills). |
